أَحْكَام / Ah-kaam
Ahkam are the rulings and commands derived from Islamic teachings.
Ahkam are the rulings that guide a Muslim’s actions, drawn from the Quran and Sunnah. They cover what is required, recommended, allowed, discouraged, or forbidden. Scholars study and explain Ahkam so that everyday actions like eating, working, and worshipping can be done in a way that pleases Allah. The study of Ahkam falls under the broader subject of Fiqh.
