Halal

حلال / Ha-laal

Halal is an Arabic term in Islam that means “permissible” or “lawful” according to the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah.

What Does Halal Mean?

The halal meaning in Islam refers to anything that is allowed by Allah. Muslims use the word halal to describe actions, food, earnings, relationships, and behaviors that follow Islamic teachings. The opposite of halal is haram, which means forbidden.

What Does Halal Mean in Islam?

In Islam, halal applies to many areas of daily life, not just food. Muslims are encouraged to live a halal lifestyle by following what is lawful, ethical, and pure according to the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Halal food is one of the most common uses of the term. Meat is considered halal when it is prepared according to Islamic guidelines, including humane slaughter and the recitation of Allah’s name. Foods and drinks such as pork and alcohol are considered haram and are not permitted in Islam.

The concept of halal also includes halal income, halal business practices, and halal relationships. Islam teaches believers to choose what is lawful and beneficial while avoiding harmful or prohibited actions. Because of this, halal represents a complete way of life centered on faith, responsibility, and obedience to Allah.
