قدر / Qad-r
Qadr is the Islamic concept of divine decree and destiny, referring to Allah’s complete knowledge, power, and control over all things.
The Qadr meaning in Islam refers to Allah’s divine plan and decree for creation. Muslims believe that everything happens according to Allah’s knowledge and wisdom while humans are still responsible for their choices and actions.
In Islam, belief in Qadr is one of the six pillars of Iman (faith). Muslims believe Allah knows everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen in the future. Nothing occurs without His knowledge and permission.
Qadr teaches that Allah has complete control over life, death, provision, success, hardship, and all events in the universe. At the same time, Islam teaches that people have free will and are accountable for their intentions and actions.
Understanding Qadr helps Muslims develop patience during difficulties, gratitude during blessings, and trust in Allah’s wisdom. Believers are encouraged to make effort, pray sincerely, and rely on Allah while accepting that ultimate outcomes are part of His divine plan.
The concept of Qadr is closely connected to faith, reliance on Allah (Tawakkul), and spiritual peace. It reminds Muslims that Allah’s wisdom is perfect even when human beings may not fully understand events in life.
