What Is Surah Al-Alaq?
Surah Al-Alaq is Surah 96 of the Quran. It contains 19 ayahs and was revealed in Makkah.

Ayah 1
ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ
Meaning
Read with the name of your Lord who created (every thing),
- 2
Ayah 2
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
Meaning
He created man from a clot of blood.
- 3
Ayah 3
ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ
Meaning
Read, and your Lord is the most gracious,
- 4
Ayah 4
ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ
Meaning
who imparted knowledge by means of the pen.

Ayah 5
عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
Meaning
He taught man what he did not know.
- 6
Ayah 6
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ
Meaning
In fact, man crosses the limits,
- 7
Ayah 7
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
Meaning
because he deems himself to be free of need.
- 8
Ayah 8
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ
Meaning
Surely to your Lord is the return.
- 9
Ayah 9
أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ
Meaning
Have you seen him who forbids
- 10
Ayah 10
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
Meaning
a servant of Allah when he prays?
- 11
Ayah 11
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
Meaning
Tell me, if he is on the right path,
- 12
Ayah 12
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ
Meaning
or bids piety, (would the former still forbid him?)
- 13
Ayah 13
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
Meaning
Tell me, if he rejects (the true faith) and turns away,
- 14
Ayah 14
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
Meaning
does he not know that Allah is watching (him)?
- 15
Ayah 15
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
Meaning
No! If he does not desist, We will certainly drag (him) by forelock,
- 16
Ayah 16
نَاصِيَةٍ كَـٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ
Meaning
a lying, sinful forelock.

Ayah 17
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
Meaning
So let him call the men of his council,
- 18
Ayah 18
سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
Meaning
We will call the soldiers of the Hell.
- 19
Ayah 19
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩
Meaning
No! Never obey him, and bow down in sajdah, and come close to Me.
