Surah 75 · 40 Ayahs
What Is Surah Al-Qiyaama?
Surah Al-Qiyaama is Surah 75 of the Quran. It contains 40 ayahs and was revealed in Makkah.

Ayah 1
لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
Meaning
I swear by the Day of Resurrection,
- 2
Ayah 2
وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلنَّفْسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ
Meaning
and I swear by the self-reproaching conscience, (that Resurrection is a reality.)

Ayah 3
أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ
Meaning
Does man think that We will never reassemble his bones?
- 4
Ayah 4
بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهُۥ
Meaning
Why (can We) not (do so), while We are able to reset (even) his fingertips perfectly?

Ayah 5
بَلْ يُرِيدُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ
Meaning
But man wishes to go on violating Allah’s injunctions (even in future) ahead of him.

Ayah 6
يَسْـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
Meaning
He asks, “When will be this Day of Resurrection?”
- 7
Ayah 7
فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلْبَصَرُ
Meaning
So, when the eyes will be dazzled,
- 8
Ayah 8
وَخَسَفَ ٱلْقَمَرُ
Meaning
and the moon will lose its light,
- 9
Ayah 9
وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ
Meaning
and the sun and the moon will be joined together,
- 10
Ayah 10
يَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ ٱلْمَفَرُّ
Meaning
on that day man will say, “Where to escape?”
- 11
Ayah 11
كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ
Meaning
Never! There will be no refuge at all.
- 12
Ayah 12
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ
Meaning
On that day, towards your Lord will be the destination (of everyone.)

Ayah 13
يُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ
Meaning
Man will be informed of what he sent ahead and what he left behind.
- 14
Ayah 14
بَلِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٌ
Meaning
Rather, man will be a witness against himself,
- 15
Ayah 15
وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ
Meaning
even though he may offer his excuses.
- 16
Ayah 16
لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِۦٓ
Meaning
(O Prophet,) do not move your tongue (during revelation) for (reciting) it (the Qur’ān) to receive it in hurry.
- 17
Ayah 17
إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُۥ وَقُرْءَانَهُۥ
Meaning
It is surely undertaken by Us to store it (in your heart), and to let it be recited (by you after revelation is completed).
- 18
Ayah 18
فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعْ قُرْءَانَهُۥ
Meaning
Therefore, when it is recited by Us (through the angel), follow its recitation (by concentration of your heart).
- 19
Ayah 19
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُۥ
Meaning
Then, it is undertaken by Us to explain it.
- 20
Ayah 20
كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ
Meaning
Never, (your denial of Resurrection is never based on any sound reason!) Instead, you love that which is immediate,
- 21
Ayah 21
وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ
Meaning
and neglect the Hereafter.
- 22
Ayah 22
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ
Meaning
Many faces, that day, will be glowing,
- 23
Ayah 23
إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ
Meaning
looking towards their Lord,
- 24
Ayah 24
وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بَاسِرَةٌ
Meaning
and many faces, that day, will be gloomy,
- 25
Ayah 25
تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ
Meaning
realizing that a back-breaking calamity is going to be afflicted on them.
- 26
Ayah 26
كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ
Meaning
Never, (you will never remain in this world forever!) When the soul (of a patient) reaches the clavicles,
- 27
Ayah 27
وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ
Meaning
and it is said, “Who is an enchanter (that can save him?)”
- 28
Ayah 28
وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلْفِرَاقُ
Meaning
and he realizes that it is (the time of) departure (from the world,)
- 29
Ayah 29
وَٱلْتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ
Meaning
and one shank is intertwined with the other shank,
- 30
Ayah 30
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمَسَاقُ
Meaning
then on that day, it is to your Lord that one has to be driven.
- 31
Ayah 31
فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ
Meaning
So (the denier of the Hereafter) neither believed, nor prayed,
- 32
Ayah 32
وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
Meaning
but rejected the truth and turned away (from it),
- 33
Ayah 33
ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ
Meaning
then he went to his home, puffed up with pride.
- 34
Ayah 34
أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ
Meaning
(It will be said to such a man,) Woe to you, then woe to you!
- 35
Ayah 35
ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰٓ
Meaning
Again, woe to you, then woe to you!
- 36
Ayah 36
أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى
Meaning
Does man presume that he will be left unchecked?
- 37
Ayah 37
أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِىٍّ يُمْنَىٰ
Meaning
Was he not an ejaculated drop of semen?
- 38
Ayah 38
ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ
Meaning
Then he became a clot of blood, then He created (him) and made (him) perfect,
- 39
Ayah 39
فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ
Meaning
and made from him two kinds, male and female.
- 40
Ayah 40
أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحْـِۧىَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ
Meaning
Has He no power to give life to the dead?
